Updated Mask Guidance - Effective Monday, July 26

In accordance with respective county guidance, as of Monday, July 26, 2021 all individuals at the Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, and PLTS campuses, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks in indoor public or common spaces.

Dear Cal Lutheran Community,

Please be aware of the following changes to the Cal Lutheran mask policy:

Ventura County and PLTS Mask Requirement Starting Monday, July 26 – In accordance with respective county guidance, as of Monday, July 26, 2021 all individuals at the Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, and PLTS campuses, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks in indoor public or common spaces. Additionally, all individuals that are unable to maintain physical distancing while indoors must wear masks.

Public spaces include all classrooms, labs, and studios engaged in learning activities, all indoor fitness areas, and all retail spaces including Starbucks, Ullman Dining, and the Campus Store (masks may be removed with actively engaged in eating or drinking).

Unvaccinated individuals must wear masks at all times indoors except when actively eating or drinking.

Fully vaccinated individuals may choose to wear a mask at any time and that decision should be respected, and all individuals are encouraged to commence wearing masks when indoors prior to Monday.

Los Angeles County Campuses – As was discussed in my email last week, all individuals utilizing the Woodland Hills or Westlake Village campuses must wear masks while indoors in all situations including work or classroom activities. Employees may remove masks when actively engaged in eating or drinking.

I expect these guidelines may change quickly based on County case status and overall vaccination status.

As noted, these mask policy updates are consistent with recent county recommendations. On July 16, 2021 Alameda County recommended mask usage for indoor public spaces for all individuals either vaccinated or unvaccinated.  On July 19, 2021, Ventura County “strongly recommended” mask usage for indoor public spaces for all individuals either vaccinated or unvaccinated.
